Krav Maga was developed back in the 1930’s in the Israeli Defence Forces. Its founder, Imi Lichtenfeld, started teaching it to the Jewish community to help them defend themselves against the Nazi forces. He used his experience in Street Fighting, Boxing & Wrestling as the foundations of the system, and he then refined the techniques using existing Martial Arts, such as Judo, Muay Thai and BJJ to create a unique martial art addressing hand to hand combat.
It is such an effective system of real world situations with brutal counter attacks, that it has been adopted by the army, police forces and refined for civilians. Krav Maga has a philosophy emphasizing threat neutralization, simultaneous defensive and offensive manoeuvres, and aggression.
George Moutafis has trained with Combat Krav Maga International, headed by Lior Offenbach. Training directly with Lior, George has acquired his Krav Maga Instructor Accreditation and is versed in the Krav Maga philosophy and techniques that can be applied to Street Self Defence. Krav Maga techniques are realistic self defence moves that can be applied to any attack, with or without weapons. Essentially, its reality based Self Defence with no rules. It addresses multiple attackers with stand up and ground defences.
Fitness & Strength play a major role in the effectiveness of any combat system, and Krav Maga is no different. As part of the self defence program a large portion is dedicated to conditioning, fitness & strength to give the practitioner the best chance to defend themselves or their family & friends against a violent confrontation.
